Important Classroom Information - Expectations, Homework, Policies, ClassDojo

School is right around the corner! I thought I would share some of the important policies I have in my classroom. As a teacher, it is important for me to instill a sense of community in my classroom. I hold my students to high expectations, and have clearly defined rules & consequences, as well as, procedures that make the day, week, and year run smoothly. In Room 202 it is important that students feel safe and loved, and these rules/ consequences and procedures allow this to happen!

Each link will take you to a document that outlines the policies and procedure of Room 202. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at any time! If you have received my Class Dojo invitation in your email, you can message me there, or you can send an email: grocciak@Bsd-ri.net.

Yesterday, I sent out parent invitations to ClassDojo via e-mail. On the first day, I will be sending home more information about how I use ClassDojo, as well as, information for student logins. There is a lot of valuable information on their website. If you look through their "Privacy Policy," you'll notice that ClassDojo is a trusted site and does not share any information with third-parties. It is very important to me that my students' (and parents') information is safe.

Wedding, Ireland, Getting Ready for Back to School

The past two weeks have seriously been amazing! I got married, visited Europe for the first time, and now I am back, and getting organized for the new school year!

I promised some pictures to my old class so here they are!

The wedding day was a perfect day by the ocean! We climbed down the rocks just like we did at Beavertail for our field trip in June!

'
Our wedding band was awesome, and I know all of my dancing fools from last year's class would have loved to be out there on the dance floor!

Ireland was incredible! This picture was taken in Galway City, Ireland at Salthill Beach!

We drove through the mountains in the Connemara region of the country. We saw some of the most beautiful landscapes! The temperature was definitely cooler than it was here in Rhode Island, much more windy too!

We visited Killkenny, Ireland which has a lot of medieval history. We visited this castle which was really cool!

I've been spending some time getting ready for back to school! If you are one of my new students, be on the lookout for a letter coming in the mail for me!

Summer Vacation....Continued...

Can you believe we've been out of school for almost a month now? I hope that you've all been having a relaxing, fun summer, that includes Reflex Math (BIG SHOUT OUT TO MY OUTGOING 4th GRADERS WHO I'VE SEEN ARE SIGNING IN AND GETTING GREEN LIGHTS!) and summer reading! I am only 10 days away from my wedding, but I am still working on some back to school activities!

I LOVE the first day of school, but I don't like that I only get one every year! There are so many things to do on the first day:

  • I want to get to know my students.
  • I want them to get to know each other.
  • I want to show them around the classroom.
  • I want them to learn the rules and procedures of Room 202.
  • I want them to unpack their shiny, new school supplies.
  • I want them to know that Room 202 is a calm place where we try new things, and cooperate with each other.
Here is a sneak peak at the first activity we will complete upon entering the classroom!

Don't forget one of Room 202's favorite websites: Go Noodle! They are putting on a special "Summer Camp" series right now! Check it out!

Summer Vacation!

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacation! This past school year seemed to fly back, and I truly can't believe that it is really summer vacation. I have been spending my time doing a few things!

1. Finishing all the last minute touches for the wedding! Take a look at these pretty bags that will go to all of the guests who stay at the hotel.

2. Reading up on incorporating station work in our ELA block. This past year I refined the use of stations during the Math block, and I loved it so much that I want to do it in ELA as well. I will keep you all posted.

Keep playing, reading, and enjoying your summer!
